A WhatsApp QR code turns a printed contact point into a conversation. It can sit beside a restaurant menu, on a business card or in a guesthouse welcome booklet. The useful part is the destination: a direct link to the right number, with a message that makes the customer’s next step clear.

Start with the correct number

Use the WhatsApp number that customers should actually contact. Include its country code: for a Moroccan number such as 06 12 34 56 78, use +212 with the local number. Ternyxa removes the national leading zero when it combines those fields. A full international number beginning with + is also accepted.

Before making a code, confirm that the number has an active WhatsApp account and that the person or team managing it is ready to receive enquiries. A technically valid link cannot make an unavailable business respond.

Create the code and choose a useful message

Open the QR generator and select WhatsApp. Enter the country code and phone number, then add a short optional message such as “Hello, I would like to reserve a table.” Check the preview and click Generate QR Code. Download PNG for a digital layout or SVG for a print layout.

The static code contains a direct wa.me link. Scanning opens the conversation and pre-fills the message; it does not send the message automatically. Keep the wording easy to edit, and avoid placing customer details or confidential information in a printed code.

Test the destination before publishing

Scan the downloaded image on another phone and check the contact and message. Try the printed proof at its final size. Preserve the empty border around the code, use a dark code on a light background, and keep nearby text outside that border.

Label the action beside the image: “Ask us on WhatsApp” says more than “Scan me.” Add the phone number as another way to reach you. A menu, window card or reception sign should tell the customer what will happen before they scan.

Know what can change later

A static QR code has no built-in expiry. Its encoded number and message cannot be edited after download: generate a new code if those details change. The destination still depends on WhatsApp being available and the number remaining usable.

For a larger workflow, a business may need separate codes for locations, a shared response process or its own print templates. Start with the free code; request a custom version when the ordinary workflow becomes repetitive.
